heleno bernardi - masseter suíte

Click. Photos retain in themselves a fraction of a second. However, in these photos it is possible to see time passing.
In the heat of the spotlights, the sculpture "Levator Scapulate" has begun to melt, to stretch the fibers and form little pools. Note: everything flows, everything is perishable.
An arm, a bust, a skull. A repertoire of classical elements from sculpture and painting. However, it is pointless to seek here the coldness and solemnity with which these museum objects allow our gaze to run over them, silently enriched in their passsed time.
After all, all the sticks of gum need to be chewed long and hard before being used. But it is then that speed suddenly comes into play. With the rapidity with which one outlines a sketch, Bernardi models a bust with pink and red fibers, covers a skull or his own arm, in such a way that for a moment we think we are seeing muscles, tendons, an inner life revealed.
